What should I do if I miss a Saxenda dose?

Saxenda is injected once a day, so missing a dose needs slightly different handling to weekly medications.

Less than 12 hours since your usual injection time

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, then continue with your usual daily schedule.

More than 12 hours late

Skip the missed dose and take your next dose at your usual time the following day. Do not take two doses to make up for one.

If you've missed more than 3 days

Contact our team before injecting. You may need to restart from a lower dose because your tolerance to side effects can drop quickly. Restarting at your previous dose after a break can trigger severe nausea or vomiting.

If you take a double dose by accident

Contact 111 or your GP for advice. Watch for severe nausea, vomiting, signs of low blood sugar (sweating, shaking, confusion), or severe stomach pain.

Tip

Setting a daily reminder on your phone makes it much harder to miss doses. Many patients find it easiest to inject at the same time each day — for example, before breakfast or at bedtime.
