Wegovy storage guidance changed in 2025. Following an updated MHRA label, Wegovy pens are now stable at room temperature for their full shelf life and no longer require cold chain storage. This is what's currently recommended.
Unopened pens
- Store at room temperature, below 25°C
- Keep in the original carton to protect from light
- Do not freeze. Frozen pens must not be used
- Keep out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (radiators, hot windows, cars in summer)
- Refrigerating is still permitted if you prefer, but not required
Once you've started using a pen
- Continue storing at room temperature, below 25°C
- Keep the cap on between injections to protect from light
- Use within the discard period stated on the pen
Travelling with your medication
- No special arrangements needed for cool storage during normal UK travel
- If travelling somewhere hot, keep the pen out of direct sun and away from car dashboards or sealed cars
- Always carry it in hand luggage when flying — checked luggage holds can freeze
- Take a copy of your prescription paperwork when travelling abroad
If your medication has been exposed to extreme conditions
Do not use a pen that has been frozen, exposed to temperatures above 30°C for a prolonged period, or visibly damaged. Contact our team for guidance on whether the pen is still safe to use.
Note on shipping
We no longer ship Wegovy with ice packs. Cold chain still applies to Mounjaro and Saxenda.
