To prescribe Wegovy safely, our prescribers assess every patient individually. Eligibility is based on UK clinical guidelines.
Core eligibility
- Aged 18 or over
- BMI of 30 or above, or
- BMI of 27 or above with a weight-related health condition (type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnoea, high cholesterol, or joint pain caused by weight)
- Patients of South Asian, Chinese, or other ethnically minoritised backgrounds may qualify at a slightly lower BMI threshold
- UK resident with a UK delivery address
Who Wegovy is not suitable for
Wegovy is not prescribed if you:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive
- Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN-2 syndrome
- Have a history of pancreatitis
- Have severe gastrointestinal disease (e.g. gastroparesis)
- Have an active eating disorder
- Have type 1 diabetes (some exceptions — please discuss)
- Take certain medications that interact significantly with GLP-1s
